As an East Bay resident and community advocate, there's nothing I love more than celebrating Independence Day close to home, surrounded by neighbors, local pride, and the kind of community spirit that makes this area so special. And this year has an extra reason to celebrate: 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, so from Concord to Livermore, you can expect an especially memorable Fourth.
Whether you're drawn to classic small-town parades, live outdoor concerts, family festivals, or a spectacular fireworks show, there's something happening in every corner of the East Bay. Here's your complete guide.
Danville — Kiwanis Fourth of July Parade
When: July 4, 9 AM–Noon | Free
The Kiwanis-Danville Parade celebrates its 51st anniversary this year, with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District honored as Grand Marshal under the theme "Great Schools + Great Students = Great Community!" The parade runs along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard, starting at San Ramon Valley High School at Railroad Avenue and ending at Town and Country Drive. With over 40,000 attendees, it's one of the most beloved Independence Day traditions in the entire Bay Area. Claim your spot along the route early — sidewalk seating fills up fast.
Perfect For: Classic parade lovers, families, community pride.
Walnut Creek — Patriotic Concert in the Park
When: July 4, 6–7 PM | Free
Bring your family and a picnic to Civic Park and help celebrate the nation's birthday while enjoying music presented by the Walnut Creek Concert Band. This free concert features marches, patriotic music, and more. It's a relaxed, classic neighborhood celebration, low-key in the best way, and a perfect way to cap an active day before heading somewhere for fireworks in the evening.
Perfect For: Families, casual park-goers, music lovers.
Concord — Full-Day Parade, Festival & Fireworks
When: July 4, 8 AM–10 PM | Festival/Fireworks ticketed
Concord puts on one of the most complete Fourth of July celebrations in the East Bay. The day begins with a Stars & Stripes Kids Fun Run at 8 AM, a 5K Run/Walk at 8:15 AM, and a parade at 10 AM, all centered around Todos Santos Plaza. The festival opens at 4 PM, with fireworks launching at 9:15 PM. This year's parade theme is "Rockin' Red, White, and Blue!" celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Concord Pavilion. The evening festival features live music, a Stars & Stripes Midway, food and vendor booths, and local artist exhibits.
Perfect For: Families who want a full day of activities, fireworks fans.
San Ramon — Run San Ramon Race & Independence Day Concert
When: July 4, Morning Race + Evening Concert at 5 PM | Free Concert
Run San Ramon's 5K/10K turns 40 in 2026, a great way to kick off the morning on an active note. Then return in the evening for the free concert at San Ramon Central Park Amphitheater, where festivities start at 5 PM featuring The Cheeseballs playing funk, soul, and hits from the 80s, 90s, and today. Food trucks, wine, beer, and drinks will be available. Kick off America's 250th with patriotic music from Olympia Fields Brass before the main act takes the stage.
Perfect For: Active families, music lovers, all ages.
Dublin — Red, White & Blue Backyard Bash
When: July 4, 10 AM–4 PM | Free
Celebrate America's 250th with free live music, carnival fun, vendors, and family activities at Dublin's Red, White & Blue Backyard Bash at the Dublin Sports Grounds. Two stages of live music and entertainment run throughout the day, alongside a family fun carnival, watermelon eating contest, food and beverages, artisan vendors, and a special time capsule sealing ceremony. After the bash, Dublin is also the only East Bay city where personal fireworks are legal: Safe and Sane fireworks usage is permitted at four designated parks (Shannon Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Alamo Creek Park, and Emerald Glen Park) starting at 10 AM.
Perfect For: Families, all-day celebrators, kids.
Livermore — Independence Day Dash + Airport Celebration
When: July 4 | Dash: 8 AM at Sycamore Grove Park | Airport: 9 AM–1 PM | Free
Kick off your Independence Day with a scenic 5K through the trails of Sycamore Grove Park, followed by a free 400-meter Kids' Fun Run for ages 12 and under. Then head to the Livermore Municipal Airport for a family-friendly celebration featuring military aircraft, remote-control aircraft demonstrations, and displays of emergency vehicles, jets, and helicopters, plus food trucks, live music, and a kids' zone. It's a uniquely Livermore experience you won't find anywhere else in the East Bay.

Pleasanton — Patriotic Sing-Along + Fireworks at the Alameda County Fair
