Community
We're thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Connect to a Cause! This October 2023, we're once again GOING PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, people worldwide unite to raise awareness and funds for research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and support for those affected by this disease. At Connect California Homes, we're committed to making a meaningful impact in the Tri-Valley/East Bay Area, and invite you to join us this month in connecting to this cause!
Volunteering is a meaningful way to make a difference in the fight against this devastating disease. Through volunteering, you become an essential part of a collective effort to empower survivors, educate the public, and contribute to research initiatives, all while fostering a sense of unity and hope within our community. Here are some local non-profit organizations you can volunteer at:
Susan G. Komen is a renowned organization in the fight against breast cancer. They offer numerous volunteer opportunities, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Get involved in fundraising events, educational campaigns, or local races and walks dedicated to the cause.
The American Cancer Society is a vital resource for cancer research, advocacy, and support. Volunteer roles range from assisting with Relay For Life events to participating in community outreach. October is a prime time to join their efforts in promoting breast cancer awareness.
Culinary Angels is a volunteer, donation-based organization that provides nutrient-rich meals and nutrition education to people going through a cancer challenge, as well as to their caregivers. Meals are delivered free-of-charge throughout the Tri-Valley area in California. When you volunteer, you will be trained to cook with as many organic ingredients as possible and focus on nutrient-rich, plant-based, seasonal ingredients.
Bay Area Cancer Connections is a nonprofit in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to providing support, education, and resources to individuals and families impacted by breast or ovarian cancer. They offer support groups, educational workshops, and counseling to help people navigate their cancer journey and improve their well-being.
BAYS is an inclusive breast cancer support community in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on young survivors. They offer emotional support, education, and a platform to share experiences, empowering young survivors to navigate their unique challenges and thrive beyond cancer.
Women’s Cancer Resource Center helps people with cancer improve their quality of life through education, supportive services, and practical assistance. Their clients are primarily low-income persons, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Volunteers will provide information, resources, and emotional and practical support to women at risk for and diagnosed with cancer.
The mission of the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is to support all individuals healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status. HERS nurtures and encourages breast cancer patients at all stages of their journey, whether they’re newly diagnosed or multi-year survivors. They advocate for under-served patients so they have access to the products and dignity they deserve.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month offers a powerful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer. Whether you can volunteer your time or not, there are various ways to contribute. If your schedule doesn't allow for volunteering, consider donating to support the cause.
Additionally, we invite you to attend our 2nd Annual Connect to a Cause! This end-of-month event will be hosted at BottleTaps Restaurant in Pleasanton on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 from 6–9PM. BottleTaps has generously dedicated 15% of the profits from this night to a breast cancer foundation. Moreover, there will be a raffle with a fun-filled prize, with all raffle ticket purchases donated as well. View details here!
